Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty react to accusations of using rape inappropriately in 'Simmba'



Rohit Shetty's last film 'Simmba' spelt success for him and Ranveer Singh at the box-office. But a certain section took offence with the approach they took about getting the rape victim justice in the film and another was using Nirbhaya as a reference during a courtroom sequence.

Razzie Awards: 'Gotti,' 'Holmes & Watson' Among Nominees for Worst Picture

John Travolta, Melissa McCarthy, Bruce Willis, Jennifer Garner and Donald Trump are among the acting nominees for the 39th annual celebration of the worst movies of the past year.
The nominations for the 39th annual Razzie Awards have been announced. The awards show "honors" the worst films of 2018.
This year's nominees for worst picture, as opposed to the Oscars' best picture, include Gotti, The Happytime Murders, Robin HoodWinchester and the "comedy whose own ads admit it 'doesn't have a clue'," the Razzies said in its announcement, Holmes & Watson.
Nominees for worst acting include John Travolta for Gotti, Melissa McCarthy for The Happytime Murders and Life of the Party, Bruce Willis for Death Wish and Jennifer Garner for Peppermint. The "best-known Razzie repeat offender" Donald Trump is also nominated for his appearances through archival footage in the documentaries Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9.........

Foreign-Language Oscar Contender 'Shoplifters' Nominated for 13 Japan Academy Awards

The Koji Yakusho-starrer 'The Blood of Wolves' scored 12 mentions, while the indie zombie hit 'One Cut of the Dead' collected eight.

Hirokazu Kore-eda's Palme d'Or winner Shoplifters (Manbiki Kazoku) leads the Japan Academy Prize nominations with 13.
The foreign-language Oscar contender is up for best picture, director, screenplay, actor (Lily Franky), actress (Sakura Ando), supporting actress (the late Kiki Kirin), music, sound, cinematography, production design, lighting and editing.
Following closely behind Shoplifters with 12 mentions is Blood of Wolves, starring Koji Yakusho (Memoirs of a Geisha) as a hard-boiled detective in an organized crime division who appears at times too close to the yakuza gangsters he investigates. Directed by Kazuya Shiraishi and based on the novel of the same name by Yuko Yuzuki, the film was critically well-received but only took in just over ¥670 million ($6 million) at the box office.....

Critics' Choice Awards: Best Actress Winners Lady Gaga and Glenn Close Share Second Tie of the Night

"The true star of the film is not me, it is bravery and it is perseverance," Gaga said after dedicating her award to those touched by alcoholism and addiction.

In the category for best actress in a movie, Glenn Close and Lady Gaga shared the second tie of the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.
Close won for her role in The Wife, for which she also took home a Golden Globe, while Lady Gaga won for her performance as Ally in A Star Is Born.
"My mother and Glenn are good friends, so I'm so very happy she won this this evening," Gaga said tearfully........

'Green Book' picks up three honors while 'The Americans' wins best TV drama and 'The Kominsky Method' wins for TV comedy.

Leading the way at the 76th annual Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday was Universal's Green Book, which claimed three wins, in the best comedy, best supporting actor and best screenplay categories. 

Netflix's Roma, meanwhile, took home two wins, in the foreign-language and director categories. As did Fox's Bohemian Rhapsody, which won in the best drama and best actor categories. .......
