Hell-spawn, aptly-named anti-hero comic book superhero, and self-titled movie 'Spawn' debuted in theaters on August 1st, 1997. Based off the works of acclaimed comic book creator Todd McFarlane the PG-13 rated film failed to inspire fans of the much darker and violent print version.
